[ john never thought he'd be so happy to see the temple again. he grabs for the nearest person to him, blinking as his slight hand fits around a strong and familiar bicep. he narrows his eyes when he turns to look over and up at steve, allowing something vulnerable to sneak into his gaze though he'd usually fight such a thing. now he's simply too tired to care. ]
John steps out of the cab and looks up at the Circle K. Somehow, he ended up getting roped into this magical goose chase in Jersey City of all places. He pulls out his cigarettes and makes a face. "You're really up to your neck in it this time, John-boy," he murmurs to himself, sighing as he pushes the pack back into his jacket pocket and strides into the shop. The second he's on display, his entire persona changes. His eyes light up and he pastes on an easy smile as he comes up to the front counter that Bruno is manning, dropping his elbow and glancing around the shop like it's Carnegie Hall.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, squire, but you seem like a young man in the know." He laughs to himself under his breath, already regretting this entire detour. Lowering his voice and shifting his gaze around, he goes on. "I was told a certain hero haunts this place on the weekdays after school hours. How's my intel?"
@zee_zatara
